The Bucket List (2007) [@ the movies]
This is the latest movie done by Jack Nicholson, playing Edward Cole. The other important character, Carter Chambers is played awesome by Morgan Freeman, a guy never tired (he also has other 6-7 movies in various working stages).
A little spoiler now ( not the whole story!): Edward Cole and Carter Chambers meet in an Oncology section of a hospital owned by Edward Cole, a C.E.O which made a fortune by managing hospitals – they both have cancer and are about to die. Carter never gives up hope and tend to keep his daily routine unchanged: he watches Jeopardy and knows all the answers; it doesn’t matter that all his life he was a car mechanic. As he put it , he "wanted to become a geography professor but being young, black and poor made me took the first decent job that came along". Carter is not losing his equilibrium and remember that in his first year at University (he managed to do just that before being forced to find work) a philosophy professor asked them to do a list of things they wanted to do before they "kick the bucket" – thus the name of the movie. They decide to do that list together and this is the begining of a beautiful and meaningful friendship in which time is not important. The whole movie let me find out more. They decide to do things they never had time or means to do and live the life left in them, rather than waiting the death on a hospital bed.
On a more personal note, I’ll get this DVD for sure. This movie asks more of my time and I’ll watch it over and over a few times as there’s much more to see in it. A great, great movie.
