Noii “catindati”,aceiasi penibili…
0Frustrare cotidiana (inca o data!) [life]
In ideea asta, pot spune ca ieri am vazut ceva ce numai in filme credeam posibil.
O zi neobisnuita
2No time to say “no”
0Seems like these days no one has time to do anything. Or,better, most of the people don’t have as much time as they need to do things.
There are 2 ways to look at this issue: personally and professionally. If in the 1st case I can understand the pressures of our lives,I simply can’t overlook the other side of the story:if I pay you to do something or to offer good service,be damn sure I’m gonna come after you when you do sloppy work!
I had the ‘pleasure’ of dealing with various companies in the last couple of weeks and I have to say that every single one of them offer crap service for a lot of money. Because the market developed too quickly and the customers came running cause there was no other place to go.
Last week i bought a piece of furniture and one of the doors was not the right one. I had to take it back to ask for the right one-they wouldn’t take it back (the reason was that they…can’t!hahaha how stupid sounds that?!) although the damn thing is 1.8 meters long! I had to because I’m sick and tired of arguing. This kind of “victory” where I spend all my energy on a crappy thing like that doesn’t suit me. I don’t need it, nor seek it.
The next one is about the internet provider. I followed Dave Winer’s battle with Comcast and now I have my little own battle to fight. In Romania there’s isn’t likely a win/win situation, but rather a lose/lose one. UPC, with lots of branches worldwide bought a big local Internet company and started offering good deals for high-Internet. In my area it’s their monopoly cause there is nobody else to offer Internet. And, of course, I had to ask them nicely on the phone for a few days to send somebody over for me to sign a contract for digital TV and Internet, which they did 5 days after they told me they’d send him in 2 days. Why the hell would you say that? Company Policy? Who cares?! Lemme give a free piece of business advice and conduct: never promise something in terms of time if you know you can’t deliver! But,hey, what do think? I’m dealing here with a BIG company! And now I have to wait for them to come and actually install the service – that’s another 15 days on paper. Don’t know how long actually. But I know for certain how much.
And now, my mobile phone provider, Vodacrap. I switched jobs and I wanted to transfer my phone number from one company to the other. I couldn’t. Why? Too damn complicated! That’s what HR told me. In my face! No, I had to transfer it from Company 1 to my personal name and THEN to Company 2. I lost all benefits and I realized I have no Internet access cause no one asked for it-I know I should’ve but I thought they’d just change the name of the holder, not the whole damn subscription! I thought I’d get the same subscription I had in Company 1, with Internet, email and everything. I pay for it, not Company 1. But no. Then, I had to call them to have data access again but I couldn’t cause they have this stupid IVR (interactive voice recording) which tell you to do this and that, press 1, press 2 and you can’t pass it. You can’t talk to a human being. Now I know one thing: Company 1 numbers are prioritized and I know someone (human) has to pick up in in seconds. But they didn’t. I had to trick them in order to get someone. That’s not normal. That’s not how you do it if you want to keep the business with us.
And I could go on and on.
But I don’t. Cause I am immune to these things. And I become better and better at it. I act nonchalant and I don’t give a damn because my mental health is more important. I just keep track of things because
someday my time will come. And then, me, I, the customer will dictate the rules. It’ll come. Oh, yes. I am patient.

Later ( 29.04.08) edit on UPC: I now have UPC internet connection and digital TV and I have no problem. As far as I can calculate it, the internet connection (10 Mbps in theory) varies in speed but it never failed. So far so good. It took them around 6 days since signing the contract to come and install everything. Hope for the best in the future.
