And kinda sad at the same time. While I’m not a fan of social networking, Twitter is a nice add-on to my digital-life. It’s not intrusive (I use TwitterFox for Firefox) and I have the chance to follow some nice conversations, of course off-beat and off-topic but kinda nice, anyway.
The problem is Twitter is going thru some rough times these days being mostly down or crippled by all kinds of shortages. This article from Techcrunch made me understand the future for Twitter is still rocky.
So today I was wandering thru the profiles of my follower’s followers and I found a lot of junk. I mean, when is Twitter going to do a major clean-up? Establish some rules into your ToS!
This girl has one update, ONE YEAR AGO and SEVEN followers! Come on!
Twitter' sometimes dissapointing

I’ve adopted Twitter with all my heart sometime ago although I can’t find a logic in social networking; other than people being lonely and wanting to meet other people (men/women). And of course, is the professional part which I totally dig cuz "it’s all about the money" in this world. This being said, I have to admit Twitter is interesting. People twittering are interesting. And I understand when the program is down for various maintenance issues or upgrades because they let us know in advance.
Yesterday I found out I can’t post twitts from my phone using the Opera full HTML browser. I usually use the mobile version cuz it’s very straight-forward and uses only a few kb of data-traffic which is very expensive here. It gives me an error and I took a screeshot cuz I’m sending it to Twitter-maybe it’s a bug!
I have an alternative (Widsets) but it’s awkward and needs a lot of fiddling around and it gets on my nerves sometimes.
Later update: Still the problem exists and Twitter didn’t even reply to my enquiry. Too bad.

There’s a comprehensive article about the Twitter clients out-there. I just read it. It goes to show just how fast this micro-blogging/social network has gone. I have to think about this: I hate social networks and still, I just love Twitter and its way of working. Down but funny!

Twitter este iar offline – de 2 ori in 2 zile iar in tot timpul asta a functionat cu "galme". Dar cel putin, oamenii o fac cu stil!

Twitter este o retea sociala, un program de instant messaging, micro-blogging si status follow-up care permite utilizatorilor inregistrati sa trimita mesaje (sau twitts) de maximum 140 de caractere altor utilizatori. Exista de asemenea, o multime de programe, asa zisele third party applications, care preiau aceste mesaje. Eu folosesc un add-on al Firefox-ului, numit Twitterfox.
Programul a generat o adevarata revolutie pe Internet fiind adoptat chiar si de companii care doresc sa tina la curent utilizatorii cu diferite proiecte la care lucreaza – practic orice implica un status sau deadline poate beneficia de suportul acestuia.
Motto-ul Twitter-ului este "what are you doing?" ceea ce implica si imprima un raspuns sub forma unui status care poate fi reimprospatat de cateva ori pe zi. Eu il folosesc pentru mesaje scurte catre prieteni care sunt de asemenea inregistrati in retea si care pot vedea unde sunt si ce fac, cat si sa aflu stiri de ultima ora incepand cu NY Times si terminand cu status-ul prietenilor si cunostintelor.
Un alt avantaj este dat de faptul ca sistemul poate trimite updates prin e-mail, SMS, mesaj instant, cat si RSS.
Exista si dezavantaje: nu toata lumea doreste o conectare continua. Exista si oameni care nu tin neaparat sa anunte online ce-au mancat si ii inteleg. De asemenea, insiruirea de mesaje poate deveni obositoare si poate creea dependenta. O alta componenta iti cere sa adaugi prieteni in lista de la care vei primi mesaje si catre care vei da si tu, in cazul in care ei vor dori sa primeasca mesaje si raspunsuri de la tine. Poate fi dificil cand nu cunosti pe nimeni din comunitate.
Pentru ca sunt curios din fire, am un cont deja si am transplantat o "insigna" Twitter in partea dreapta care incarca ultimul update. Il folosesc de obicei pentru random thoughts and casual chatting.
